Welcome to the Surrey Association of Woodturners
Are you looking for a fascinating, creative and rewarding hobby?
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to try woodturning — or perhaps you’re looking to develop your existing skills? Then you’ve come to the right place.
A Friendly Club for Beginners and Experienced Turners Alike
At the Surrey Association of Woodturners you’ll find a friendly and enthusiastic group of people who are always happy to share their knowledge, offer encouragement and inspire you — whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced turner.
Founded in 1990 and now with over 100 members, we offer a wealth of experience and a strong sense of community, with plenty of opportunities to learn, improve and enjoy the craft.
We run a varied and engaging programme of demonstrations, competitions and club nights, along with regular workshops designed to help you develop new skills and build confidence at the lathe. Our mentoring programme also provides extra support for those just starting out.

More Than Just Monthly Meetings
We also take woodturning beyond the club, demonstrating at events across the area and helping to promote the craft to a wider audience.
We meet on the second Friday of each month at The Mytchett Centre, and also keep in touch socially with regular Zoom sessions during the week.
Visitors are always very welcome, so why not come along and see what we’re all about?
