A Brief Introduction To SAW

The Surrey Association of Woodturners was formed in January 1990 in order to promote the art and craft of Woodturning. Our aim is to build a lively association in which an interchange of ideas and skills will be openly encouraged in order to improve the woodturning ability of all our members.

SAW supports the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB) as an associated Club, and many members also choose to be individual AWGB members.

We meet on the second Friday of each month at the Mytchett Centre, for a demonstration, a talk on a turning related topic, or similar feature. The evening starts at 7.30pm and every effort is made to ensure that, in addition to the main event of the evening, there is time for discussion of the craft and an exchange of useful information on sources of wood, tools and other necessities.
